Congratulations on such a success! This is one of the most memorable experience I hadin Central Saint Martins.
Paul was really funny and I enjoyed the variety of things that were auctioned.Never went to an auction, but I’m sure this has to be the most entertaining!
I didn’t imagine myself bidding but, as well as the lovely typography book, I think it was the exciting atmosphere that made me participate :)
Thank you for such a wonderful experience.
What a fun and smart way to raise money :)
hey Felix!
i’ve put it on the blog!
sorry for the confusion!
looking fwd to your contribution!

Though I didn’t expect people to spend as much as they did, I could totally understand why; there was a definite buzz in the air. Bidding was fun.Whether or not you won your bid, it was about participating.
Sadly, I was outbid several times..
Sound recording by DANE RICH- Extract from a conversation with Paul Rennie after the auction
Dear all,
I have realised we forgot to give the name of the bank account for transfers. OOps!
It is called: CSM FREERANGE 2009 and it’s a RBS bank.
Sorry for the confusion.

Submitted by Val Palmer :Everyone thought the auction was brilliant -superbly organised, great fun and it raised a ton of money. All the staff involved think it should become an annual event to raise funds for the degree show. Second years take note… Val
What happens next?
The auction was a great success. Thanks to all the promisers, promisees and everyone who came and created an exciting atmosphere.
We raised £2091 pounds in 2 hours!!
At the auction on Wednesday and after, I have had many conversations with different people who were at the event, each person sharing their experiences and explaining memorable moments of the auction.
As i have been exploring and playing with promises, beliefs, rules and expectations, i am interested in launching a space to share everyone’s experience with one another. Hopefully it will start a new ongoing dialogue between the participants. It will be interesting to capture and document the thoughts, tensions, gestures and memories in detail. these can be simply keywords or a story.
It will be great if the buyers and sellers of the immaterial promises (i.e ice skating, dinner parties, french lessons…etc.) could collect some sort of evidence (photographs, videos, sound recording, menus, ephemera…) and share them with everyone else. and the buyers of the material promises briefly explain how they are hoping to use or have already used their objects (if a frame, where has it been hung, how is a sketchbook going to be used?, have any of the items been bought for someone else?).
I am planning to take extracts and images from the feedback i receive and create a series of postcards which then could be sent out to many people (maybe at the degree show) so the conversation gets passed on beyond the circle of people who were present at the event.
Many thanks again to everyone.
